2009 is coming to an end, it’s been a great year and we still have a couple more shows to finish up with. RPH moved to a new facility this summer where we have more room and a wonderful facility to train out of. Everyone at RPH did really well at the shows this year, everyone worked hard and it paid off. We are all getting geared up for the 2010 show season and hope to have a great line up of shows to attend.  The young prospects are getting broker and ready to start their show careers next year! Thanks to all the clients and friends that have made this such a wonderful year for RPH!

Amber Ross Performance Horses is located at 3 Queens Stables in Hutto, TX just a few short minutes from downtown Austin.  The facility consists of 15 well ventilated stalls, with comfort matted stalls where horses have access to cool fresh water at all times with metered automatic waters and ceiling fans overhead, air conditioned tack room and restroom, hot/cold wash rack, round pen, covered arena, hot walker, and trail course set up, as well as turnout space for horse play and room to ride out of the arena.

At age10 Amber starting showing Quarter Horses in Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle, Horsemanship, Trail and Showmanship and was instantly hooked to this challenging sport and knew at an early age that training horses was what she wanted to do. “My first show horse I’m Good N Easy helped me achieve many top placings and taught me so much. I rode every horse that I could, whether we owned it or someone was willing to give me a leg up on theirs. I started all of our own personal babies and had a passion for teaching young horses early on”. While still in school, when not showing her Quarter Horse all over the country she worked for a local cutting trainer in Elgin, TX, starting 2 yr olds and helped in the cutting pen. “It was hard to keep me out of a saddle; I even kept my show saddle in my room and sat in it to watch TV and do homework”. Any chance possible either at shows or on school breaks she worked for the trainers that coached her the last couple years as a youth. Attending shows such as the All American Quarter Horse Congress to Arizona Sun Circuit to Florida Gold/Gulf Coast, Texas Classic, Red Bud and Big A Circuit. Upon graduating she went to work full time for Lee Paul Shinn and Mason Lyon where she started young horses and helped prepare the youth and amateur horses for the all around events. Her passion is with western pleasure so after going out on her own to train Amber still continues her growing education by riding with some of the industry’s finest Western Pleasure trainers.

Amber Ross Performance Horses specializes in Western Pleasure and All-Around Events with coaching available for youth, amateur, select amateur, and novice riders. She offers lessons and possible leasing to those just starting out who want to learn more about showing these amazing horses. Along with teaching how to compete in certain events, Amber wants to help find a great relationship between horse and rider. She can help you find what niche is going to work with your horse and help you gain the confidence needed to show and have fun.

There is a wonderful support system that helps make up this great team. Denise Lackey, Amber’s mom makes show clothes for Amber and her clients as well as riding and showing with her. “It’s a great experience we get to share together. She is a huge help traveling, setting up and tearing down at the horse shows”. Amber’s husband Ash, can also be found at the occasional horse show helping Amber get horses ready to go in classes and helping put final touches as riders go in the gate. All of the clients at RPH have a great relationship and have a great time together at shows helping one another and being there at the rail for support to the fellow show team.

Amber keeps a limited number of horses to ensure that they all get the proper time and care under her guidance. If you would like more information on a training program for your horse and find out how you can reserve a stall, or start on a lesson program please contact Amber Ross.
